Thompson Continues Saying He Won't Drop Out

(CBS)
SIOUX CITY, IOWA -- Fred Thompson continued to fire back at reports that he will drop out of the race if he has a low finish in Iowa, this time saying the press was partly to blame.
“I’m afraid the media never gets tired of allowing itself to be used,” he said. “And I think that quite frankly the media is being used for purposes to hurt me here in the last few days because they see what’s happening.”
What’s happening, according to Thompson, is that some polls show him gaining in Iowa. “We’re working day and night for the last two and a half weeks,” said Thompson. “We are surging in the polls.”
This appearance was the senator’s last before the caucus, and he said he felt confident as he headed back to Des Moines to await the results.
“It will be in the hands of the good Lord and the people of Iowa,” he said.
“And I’ll be perfectly happy, I think, when those results come in.”
Anyone that has followed this race knows this very well as Jed Babbin points out;

Mike Huckabee made political history today. Being outspent 20 to 1 and with every news organization in the world twisting the truth about him they couldnt fool the American people.
Mike Huckabee is a great role model for society. He has so much integrity, honesty, humbleness, charisma and good sense of humor.
Mike Huckabee is taking American to higher ground with a new American spirit. One that stops the squabbling and bickering from left to right to one that leads the country up.
This truly was the David and Goliath story. Mike Huckabee took out his sling shot with a small stone in it and knocked down the giant Romeny. Crash!!! You can hear the earth shake with the aftershocks of the giant falling.
Fred Thompson will be dropping out of the race now and endorsing Mike Huckabee. Dr. James Dobson said he doesnt support Fred Thompson and John McCain, so that means Fred will wrap up his campaign and endorse Mike Huckabee before NH. The pressure is on Fred now to drop out. He tried, but this just wasnt his cup of tea.
