No Caffeine for Edwards

(CBS)
From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

ON THE EDWARDS BUS IN IOWA -- After our stop in Fairfield, IA this morning, John Edwards surprised reporters aboard the press bus with some coffee and an impromptu press conference.

He was upbeat and jovial, joking around with us while calling out one reporter for having bags under her eyes, and jokingly questioning whether we'd be able to make it til the end of his 36-hour campaign marathon.

But is he cheating on his no-caffeine diet? He's vowed to quit the jitter juice in this cycle after his 2004 campaign where he says he went through a twelve-pack of Diet Coke each day.

"No Diet Cokes," he said. "I'm still sticking with Sprite. But right now I could definitely use a Diet Coke. I wish I drank coffee because I don't drink coffee either."

Another reporter told him there's stash of Red Bulls somehwere on that bus.

"Red Bull!" he exclaimed with disgust. " That stuff's nasty."

And since that stash of "the Bull" is mine, his answer was fine by me...
