Clinton: My Foreign Policy Experience More Than Just Drinking Tea

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

DUBUQUE, IOWA -- Perhaps in reaction to a perceived slight from her rival Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton spent time laying out her foreign policy experience at a Dubuque campaign event tonight.

While discussing a visit to Bosnia during the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords as First Lady, Clinton took a swipe at Obama saying, "We landed in one of those corkscrew landings and ran out because they said their might be snipers. I don't remember anybody offering me tea on the tarmac when that was happening." She was referring to remarks Obama made yesterday that some - including the Clinton camp - perceived to be a jab at her foreign policy experience.

The comment drew fire from the Clinton folks who quickly released a statement from former Secretary of State Madeline Albright. "Senator Clinton has been in refugee camps, clinics, orphanages, and villages all around the world, including places where tea is not the usual drink. In addition to these experiences she has met with world leaders and has known many of them for years. I have been with her on many of these occasions, and it is this combination of experience and understanding that sets her apart from the field, and why I am supporting her for President."

Clinton continued to push her foreign policy expereince before a crowd of nearly 700 supporters tonight saying, "I was so honored to be able to travel around the world representing our country. You know going to places that often times were not necessarily a place a president could go. We used to say in the White House that if a place was too dangerous, too small or too poor send the First Lady. I had the time of my life," Clinton said drawing laughter from the crowd.

Hillary is a farce. Bill was elected promising universal health care. The Congress was democratic. Eighty percent of the public was behind it. The economy could easily support it. Yet her program was 1000% failure. She had another 6 years to try to revive it. Nothing happened. Can anybody actually be that incompetent? Let''''s hear the excuse for 8 years of failure on her supposed pet program - when her husband was the president no less. Now there''''s an election, she''''s promising you healthcare again just like Bill did - with an unworkable mandatory plan to force down people''''s throats - a windfall to the insurance lobbies that fund her. The theory is that if you can fool them once, you can always fool them. As Geffen says, "the Clintons lie with such ease, it''''s troubling". and the NY Times'''' William Safire called her a "congenital liar". Bill Clinton is a huge security risk to America, as he is susceptible to anything that comes along in a skirt. Hillary flunked healthcare. She flunked Iraq. She flunked Iran. She even flunked the Washington bar exam twice, and is a serial failure as a housewife. That''''s her record - her so-called experience. What a hoax. She cannot even take care of her household, but wants to be your president, and leader of the free world. Would you bet on a horse that collapses every time it comes out of the gate? All we need is intelligent and honest leadership. Obama is a brilliant and visionary leader with a powerful brain.

I think that for Barack Obama to denigrate Hillary''s experience simply demonstrates his utter lack of it, even immaturity, perhaps. If I were him, I would not be so arrogant as to ignore it. Experience is a big factor in having wisdom. But I suppose that if you do not have it, it makes sense to de-emphasize it as he has done. No matter what he says, the simple truth: he has not travelled as much; he has not talked to as many world leaders as Hillary has and had the opportunity to gain insight.

If he is as intelligent as he claims, he should know that learning occurs by being able to witness, observe and analyze events first hand.

He is definitely not ready to be president.

We reaaly don''t need a someone learning on the job. Bush has six years and he''s still an idiot.
I may vote for Clinton just because of her world wise experience.

I am glad Hillary defended her foreign policy experience!! I was really annoyed with Obama''s comments about "drinking tea"!! Shows how ignorant and naive he is! I guess some people have to tear others down to make themselves feel more important!

If people are smart, they will realize that Obama is both naive and inexperienced and is NOT the person we need to lead our country starting in 2009.

The person we need is HILLARY CLINTON!!!

America is a Democracy - We are not a Monarchy.
Wiser folks than us - saw to it long ago, that we be fortunate enough to realize this life blessing.
Nepotism may be fine for the old-corner-store but it will only serve to fail us again -as it has, most resoundingly, for the entirety of this millennium.

In a nation, 300 million strong, are we to believe that the person most suited to be the President just happens to be related to the last President ?!
Are we really to believe this is the case ?
Will we make this mistake, again ?

Barack Obama has the strength and certitude to take America in a new and positive direction - a direction that our evolving nation - being formed all around us all as we pass through our daily lives - very much is in need of. There really is an immediacy of the ''now'' that we all share. We truly must begin to think big again and to face the immense challenges before us in brave and selfless ways again - like those people in the old faded photographs on our walls did - for us. It really is time to wake up again America. The time is, most certainly, now.

Barack Obama for President of the United States of America.

It''s time for America to Rise and Shine again.
