Matthew Felling Joins Public Eye

(CBS/Jeffrey R. Staab)
Some good news to report today: Matthew Felling, former media director at the Center for Media and Public Affairs, is joining Public Eye. If you're in Washington D.C., you might know Matt's voice from his regular gig as a guest host on NPR affiliate WAMU; he's also been a regular on MSNBC's "Scarborough Country" and just this past Sunday appeared on CNN's "Reliable Sources." Oh, and he's been quoted just about everywhere.

As longtime readers know, when we started this site back in Sept. 2005, there were three of us on the team. I've been on my own for the past couple months, and I'm thrilled to have someone else on board – especially since that person is Matt, one of the sharpest media commentators around.

"Between this announcement and me finding out I wasn't one of the pundits on the Madam's affidavit, I'd say this has been a banner week for Matthew Tate Felling," Felling told me. For more on our new man, who starts in a week, check out the press release.

So does Mr. Felling still believe that Katie Couric is too "self centered" to be an evening news anchor?

Another white guy? H. Profida was the best and she gets canned. Replaced by a lilly-white Hirsute Ho! Go over to Fox and throw yourselves at the feet of the child fuhrer.

Fellings' past critique of Ms. Couric was rather accurate. If she is less "self centered" perhaps she was wise enough to use his article as constructive criticism.

Congratulations. The CBS Public Eye blog narrative has, from the amazing and sharp Vaughn Ververs to Hilary Profita to Brian Montopoli, taken on all media stories-- including, of late, CBS News itself (Vaugn layed the groundwork, although Public Eye's first incarnation didn't really touch, understandably in the immediate wake of Rather, on CBS internal politics at all. These past couple of months Brian, solo, has also enlarged the coverage Internationally, which we all appreciate. We wait with baited breath for the next chapter of the Public Eye Blog's trajectory with Matthew Felling.
