First Look: The Rise of Rome

Once again, we have a First Look at tonight's CBS Evening News. With Katie in Washington, for her exclusive interview with the President, we turn today to Rome Hartman, the Executive Producer, to give us his take on what's in the lineup, and what we can expect.

I am nonplussed over the various comments and opinions of the viewers about Katie's news choices, delivery and style. It is amazing how diverse the opinions are. I am glad we live in America where we have free speach and can voice our opinions.I learned that what we focus on we get more of and I choose Katies' style, delivery and choices for my news bearer. shirahpenn

First look, I love it! Finally, someone willing to try something different. People complain but are sometimes so unwilling to take a chance. Thanks for trying!

Woa! Land the plane. It looks like Rome has a little NBC action going on in the background.

Katie said this would be a serious newscast. Mr. Hartman should be better prepared for these First Look segments in the future. Perhaps have something pre-written as to give the look of unpreparedness, which leads to a look of not being serious. Also, the lunch on the table is very unproffessional. Just a comment....

Eeew, I don't need to see Rome's half-eaten lunch while he mumbles through Katie's routine. I thought this program was supposed to be classy? Yuck.

Congrats on the first show. The format was awesome, especially the free speech segment. As I expected Katie's touch made the news seem personal again. Now I understand that magical cement that connected my grandmother and Walter K. I feel it with Katie and can't find a word for it...maybe trust!
Great job...and I like the first look feature as well.
I'll be watching.

Executive producer Rome Hartman is as shifty as a nervous durg dealer in the Da Bronx.
