YouTube To Soon Launch Subscription Music Service
(CBS SF) – Google-owned YouTube plans to launch a monthly subscription music service soon, a company executive said Wednesday.
YouTube head of content and business operations Robert Kyncl said they are planning to debut the service in the next few months. Kyncl was speaking at the Code/Media conference in Dana Point in Orange County.

Currently the service, called YouTube Music Key, is in closed beta.
Along with watching music videos, users will also be able to listen to songs while using other apps or while offline. YouTube Music Key will also include access to the Google Play Music service.
According to Reuters, Google said that subscriptions for the ad-free service would start at $7.99 a month.
