Young Hiker Airlifted From Bodega Bay After Falling From Bluff

SONOMA COUNTY (CBS SF) -- The Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter airlifted a hiker, who fell 20 feet from a trail at Bodega Bay and suffered significant injuries on Saturday, police said.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter, Henry 1, responded to the area of Bodega Head at Bodega Bay, an unincorporated area of Sonoma County, at 5:44 p.m. for a report of an injured hiker.

Crews arrived to find a 23-year-old woman conscious but suffering significant injuries, sheriff's deputies said. The woman fell 20 feet from the bluff, officials said.

Helicopter crews used a 100-foot rope to extricate the woman and transported her in an ambulance to a local hospital.
