Yacht Runs Aground On Oakland-Alameda Estuary Breakwall

OAKLAND (CBS-SF) – A 40-foot yacht teetered on a breakwall at the mouth of the Oakland-Alameda Estuary early Monday after running aground on the structure, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard said it got a call about 12:28 p.m. Sunday saying the yacht had run aground.

Two people were aboard the vessel – the "Gotcha" registered out of Brentwood – at the time. They were rescued off the yacht by a Coast Guard crew out of Station San Francisco and taken to Jack London Square. There were no injuries.

The Coast Guard was on the scene Monday morning checking for any fuel leaks into the San Francisco Bay.

The circumstances surrounding the grounding were still under investigation.
