Wrestler Jerry Lawler & Girlfriend Charged With Domestic Violence

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (CBS SF/AP) – Police in Tennessee say wrestler Jerry "The King" Lawler and his girlfriend have been arrested on charges of domestic violence.

Officers arrested the 66-year-old Lawler and 27-year-old Lauryn McBride after responding to a call at Lawler's home Thursday night in East Memphis.

News outlets cited an arrest affidavit that says the couple told officers they got into an argument that turned violent. McBride said Lawler hit her on the head and pushed her against the stove. Lawler said McBride scratched his face and kicked him in the groin.

Police arrested both because they weren't able to determine who was the primary aggressor. Online jail records don't indicate whether either has an attorney. Both are scheduled to be in court Monday.

World Wrestling Entertainment said in a statement Friday it has suspended Lawler due to the arrest.
