Woman's Torso Found Near Dumbarton Bridge

FREMONT (CBS SF) -- A group of people fishing near the Dumbarton Bridge came across a gruesome discovery over the weekend: the partial remains of a woman, police said Tuesday.

Investigators confirmed that a torso belonging to an unidentified female was found near Marshlands Road. The victim's arms, legs and head - which appear to have been severed from the torso - were not located, according to police.

  • A group of people who were fishing in the area found the remains at 8:16 p.m. Sunday, police said.

    Investigators aren't sure how long the torso had been in the water or how long it had been at that location.

    Police are continuing to investigate the incident and the area is currently being treated as a crime scene, according to police.
