NorCal Woman Drowns In Floodwater Submerged Car; Driver Suspected Of DUI

OLIVEHURST, Yuba County (KCBS) -- A woman drowned inside a car submerged by floodwater in Yuba County over the weekend, and the car's driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI and manslaughter.

The woman was reportedly underwater for nearly 15 minutes in the town of Olivehurst. By the time rescue crews got there, it took divers about fifteen minutes to find the vehicle, which was already under 6 to 8 feet of water.

The woman was the passenger in the car.  The California Highway Patrol says the driver was able to get out of the car safely.

Fifty-five-year old Neng Yang of Sacramento was arrested for DUI and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Officers say Yang drove around a road blockade on State Route 70 and drove right into the floodwater.
