Woman Found Dead, Shot Multiple Times In Richmond; Suspect Sought

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- A woman was shot and killed in Richmond on Thursday night, a police sergeant said.

Police received reports of gunfire at South Fourth Street and Florida Avenue from callers and the city's ShotSpotter system at 9:57 p.m., police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

A woman in her late 30s or early 40s was found shot multiple times in her torso, Abetkov said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A burgundy sedan was seen leaving the area after the shooting and police are looking for the driver of that car, Abetkov said.

The woman is not believed to have any gang connections and the motive for the shooting remains unclear, Abetkov said.

Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to call Richmond police.
