Woman Killed After Walking Into Traffic On I-80 In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- A 32-year-old woman was killed Saturday night after she was struck by a vehicle on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Fairfield.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was struck at around 9:48 p.m. on the highway at Green Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers said her vehicle, a white Chevrolet Lumina, was located on the right shoulder of the highway near the collision scene with its flashers on.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is not known why the woman walked into the traffic lanes of the highway, according to the CHP.

The driver involved in the collision was not injured.
