Woman Injured In San Jose Apartment Fire

SAN JOSE (KCBS) — A woman was injured during a small apartment fire in San Jose Thursday morning, fire officials said.

The fire started about 7 a.m at an apartment building on Santa Clara and 10th Streets, near San Jose State University.

Some of the neighbors were evacuated from their homes because of the fire, which crews were able to knockdown quickly.

The woman suffered only minor injuries, but was carried away on a stretcher and transported to a local hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but fire officials told KCBS that it appears to have started in the kitchen area of an upstairs apartment unit.
