Blackhawk Man Accused Of Killing Wife, Held On $1M Bail

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (CBS SF) – A man accused of killing his wife Sunday afternoon at their Blackhawk home in unincorporated Contra Costa County has been arrested, sheriff's officials said Monday.

John Tercheria, 69, was arrested on suspicion of murder and was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility early Monday morning, according to the sheriff's office.

Tercheria is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

The victim has been identified as John's wife 69-year-old Marie Tercheria, sheriff's officials said.

On Sunday afternoon, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance in the 4300 block of Quail Run Lane, according to the sheriff's office.

Upon arrival, officers found Marie Tercheria unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's officials did not say how Tercheria died and did not provide a motive for the alleged homicide.
