Woman Fatally Struck By BART Train At Balboa Park Station Identified

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A woman fatally struck by a train at BART's Balboa Park station in San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon has been identified by the medical examiner's office as 67-year-old Marie Baca.

Baca, a San Francisco resident, was reported under a train at about 4:35 p.m. at the station at 401 Geneva Ave.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting the closure of the station and service delays for nearly two hours, BART officials said.

BART trains single-tracked through the station and did not stop there until the scene was cleared and the station was reopened shortly after 6:20 p.m.

The cause of Baca's death remains under investigation by BART police.
