Woman Dies In Palo Alto Motorcycle Crash

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) – A woman died after her motorcycle went off a road in Palo Alto, struck a tree and she landed in a ravine on Wednesday evening, police said.

Palo Alto police received a report at about 5:45 p.m. that a fatal crash had occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Skyline Boulevard about a mile south of the intersection with Page Mill Road.

Investigators determined that a woman in her 30s on a 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 was traveling south on Skyline Boulevard when she rounded a corner, went off the road, struck a tree and landed in the ravine, according to police.

A motorist behind the motorcyclist saw a cloud of dust after rounding the same corner and notified authorities. The woman was pronounced at the scene and her name is not yet being released by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Palo Alto police.
