Woman dies after crash on Interstate 580 in Oakland, 2 others injured
A woman was killed and a driver and minor were injured in a crash in Oakland Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol responded to westbound Interstate 580 near Fruitvale Avenue for reports that a Range Rover crashed into a tree shortly before 3 p.m.
The CHP said the driver, a woman, suffered major injuries and remains hospitalized. A passenger, also a woman, was taken to the hospital where she died, officers said.
A minor was also injured but officers expect them to recover.
The crash caused two lanes to close for about two hours.
CHP said it's investigating if speed and DUI were a factor in the crash.
