Woman Critically Injured After Crashing Stolen Car In San Pablo

SAN PABLO (CBS SF) -- Three young women were hurt after crashing a stolen car Monday night.

The pursuit started at about 8 p.m. Monday night. An officer tried to stop the car about half a mile away. Police say the car with three women inside, two minors and one adult, sped off.

One of the girls is in critical condition after the crash threw her out of the car that ended up in the median on San Pablo Avenue near Church Lane. The other two women were treated and released from the hospital.

There was a quick pursuit lasting about 20 seconds, according to the police, before it all came to a crashing end.

The stretch of San Pablo Avenue reopened shortly after 6 a.m. Monday.

While police say the car was stolen, they haven't said if that's why the officer tried to stop the car in the first place.
