Woman, Child Safe After Tree Limb Falls On Morgan Hill Home

MORGAN HILL (CBS SF) – A large tree limb fell onto a Morgan Hill home while a woman and a child were inside Tuesday afternoon, police and fire officials said.

Police and fire crews responded to the home on West Fifth and Monterey streets, where a limb fell down on a portion of a home around 1 p.m., police Sgt. Carson Thomas said.

A woman and a child were inside the home when the limb came down and were able to safely evacuate, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Brandon Leitzke said.

The fallen limb disconnected the drop line between a power pole and the residence, which was damaged, Leitzke said.

PG&E was called to repair a power outage that resulted from the fallen limb, Leitzke said.

No injuries were reported and no neighboring homes were impacted, police and fire officials said.

Tuesday's windy conditions contributed to the fall and code enforcement personnel are examining the home's structure to determine if the occupants can return to the home, Thomas said.
