Woman's Body Found By Hikers Below Steep Cliff On Mendocino Coast

MENDOCINO (CBS/AP) -- Authorities say hikers discovered a woman's body on rocks at the base of a steep 70-foot cliff on the Mendocino County coast.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported the discovery was made Wednesday evening near Caspar Point.

Sheriff's Capt. Greg Van Patten says there's no obvious sign of foul play. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Officials say the deceased woman was wearing street clothes and had been exposed to the elements for a relatively short period of time.

Investigators are trying to determine the identity of the victim, believed to have been in her 40s.
