Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run on Highway 101 in San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- A woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision on northbound Highway 101 just north of the Interstate 580 transition ramp in San Rafael Sunday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers found the woman's body in the slow lane of Highway 101 around 6 a.m. with what they described as significant trauma consistent with being struck by a vehicle, according to the CHP.

The officers closed the two right lanes of Highway 101 in order to do an investigation. All lanes were re-opened around 8:15 a.m.
