Woman Armed With Handgun Shot, Killed By Concord Police

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- Concord police officers shot and killed a woman armed with a handgun Thursday evening, according to a police official.

Police were called to a house on the 2700 block of Pacheco Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. after a subject called reporting that someone was trying to kill her, according to Lt. Darrell Graham.

The caller then told police she was suicidal, Graham said.

Responding officers found a woman armed with a handgun.  When she raised the gun toward them, she was shot by a Concord police officer, Graham said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting is being investigated by Concord police and the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.

No one else was injured in the incident.
