Winning Ticket For $425M Powerball Jackpot Sold At Milpitas Store
MILPITAS (CBS SF) – A winning ticket for Wednesday night's estimated $425 million Powerball lottery jackpot was sold at a gas station in Santa Clara County, according to lottery officials.
According to a statement from the California Lottery, the ticket was sold at Dixon Landing Chevron, located at 1551 California Circle in Milpitas.
The ticket matched the winning numbers of 17, 49, 54, 35, 1, and the Powerball number 34.
Officials said tickets that matched five numbers, except the Powerball number, were sold in Modesto and El Segundo in Los Angeles County.
Powerball officials said there are no other tickets that matched all the winning numbers. Along with the Golden State, Powerball is played in 42 other states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The California Lottery said Dixon Landing Chevron will receive a $1 million bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Customers at the gas station Wednesday night were stunned that the winning ticket was sold there.
"Crazy! Could have been me," Jocelyne Garcia, who works nearby told KPIX 5.
Lottery officials urged all winners to sign the back of their ticket in ink and claim their prize at the nearest district office.
Wednesday's drawing comes two months after one of two winning tickets to a $636 million Mega Millions jackpot was sold at an East San Jose gift shop.
