Winners Of $1.5 Million Mega Millions Forgot About Their Ticket

SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) -- The Trang family of Northern California bought a winning $1.5 million Mega Millions ticket but didn't redeem it for weeks because they forgot they had it.

Apparently, Mr. Trang handed his wife the ticket after he purchased a Quick Pick at Huong Lan Sandwiches, in San Jose. She stashed it in a drawer at home. Later, when the couple heard there was no winner, they didn't give their ticket another thought.

Three weeks later, Mr. Trang was rummaging through the drawer and stumbled across the ticket. He checked the website and discovered they had five out of six numbers -- winning $1,593,144. Their ticket matched the numbers 8, 45, 17, 71 and 20, and was missing the Mega 4.
