Win The Powerball Lottery, Buy A Sports Team

SAN FRANCISCO (CBSSF) – With the Powerball Lottery jackpot soaring over $1.5 billion Tuesday, thoughts turned to what could be purchased by the winner.

The possibility were limitless as the jackpot exceeded the gross national product of many small nations.

You could buy a Napa Valley winery.  The most expensive Lamborghini sports car.  The Florida Panthers NHL hockey team.

Yes, if you win, your dream of becoming become a professional sports franchise owner could come true in every league except possibly the NFL.

According to the latest Forbes team valuations, the least valued NFL team – the Buffalo Bills – would have a potential price tag of $1.4 billion.

Otherwise, the field is wide open even if you took a one-time payment of $750 million instead of the entire jackpot over a 20-year period.

The best buys by far are in the National Hockey League where the Panthers are valued at a mere $186 million leaving you plenty of extra change to pick up that Palm Beach waterfront home and high-tech Cigarette boat.

If you wanted to make a splash in Los Angeles, you could try to purchase the L.A. Kings with a valuation of $580 million or how about the New York Islanders will a potential price tag of $325 million.

You say basketball is your game, how about owning the Milwaukee Bucks who have a Forbes estimated value of $600 million.

Want to hang out with LeBron James?  The Cleveland Cavaliers have a Forbes estimated value of $915 million.

When it comes to baseball, the Oakland Athletics could catch your eye with their Forbes valuation of $725 million.

How about the World Champion Kansas City Royals with a value of a mere $700 million or the Tampa Bay Rays at $625 million.
