Will 'The Birds' Return To Bodega Bay?

(CBS SF) – It looks as if it's time to take another trip to Bodega Bay. A new film is in the works at Universal Pictures to remake the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller, "The Birds."

The movie studio recruited Dutch filmmaker Diederik Van Rooijen. The writer & director is better known for the Dutch television series "Penoza" that was remade for American audiences on ABC's "Red Window."

Oscar nominated actress Naomi Watts' was at one time rumored to play the "Melanie Daniels" character, portrayed by Tippi Hedren.

Action filmmaker Michael Bay is attached as a producer to the project along with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller at Platinum Dunes. Cathy Schulman and Peter Guber are producing for Mandalay Pictures.
