Will Apple Block Filming At Concerts?

By Radio.com Staff

CUPERTINO (RADIO.COM) – A newly approved patent suggests that Apple may soon be able to disable your iPhone at concerts.

Specifically, the patent would allow recording to be disabled by detecting an infrared signal in a venue.

9 to 5 Mac reports that Apple applied for the patent back in 2011. Although limiting filming concerts is one potential application, it could also be used as tool against piracy in movie theaters or to shield sensitive materials from photography.

If and when a feature utilizing this tech could roll out is unknown at this time.
