Fans Not Invited To NBA Champion Warriors' Arrival At Oakland Airport From Cleveland Wednesday

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- The world champion Golden State Warriors will return home Wednesday afternoon after winning the franchise's first championship in 40 years, but there won't be a repeat of the 1975 welcome home when thousands of fans greeted the Warriors at San Francisco International Airport.

The team is scheduled to arrive at Oakland International Airport around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after beating Cleveland in Game 6 of the NBA Finals Tuesday.

Fans often try to wait and watch the team after they get off the plane or arrive back at the team facility, as has been the case with recent Giants World Series Wins. However, Warriors officials told KPIX 5 that fans were not invited to watch the team's return.

"We do not have a location for fans tomorrow, we can only accommodate media at the airport. Fans can show their support at the parade on Friday!" said Warriors Communications Director Lisa Goodwin.

The victory parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in Oakland.
