'Ouija Board' Makes List Of Top 5 Toys Getting Googled This Holiday Season
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - What's are the most popular items on the wish list for Santa this year? If Google research is any indication, some of the top toys this season will be familiar favorites from a generation ago.
Researchers at Google looked at "search trends on Google, insights from Google Consumer Surveys and the top trending purchases on Google Express" to determine what the most popular toys were leading up to Thanksgiving.
The top 5 were:
American Girl
My Little Pony
Paw Patrol
Lego Friends
Ouija Board
"Searches for "Ouija boards" are up 300% since October. And queries for "Barbie Dream House" and "My Little Pony" are up as well compared to last month," Google reported in a press release.
Overall, the top gifts for all ages appear to be Gamae consoles, tablets and wearable Fitbit-type technology.
Researchers also found that shopping on mobile phones is on a dramatic increase, with about half of young adults using a smartphone to check prices.
