Watsonville Police Say Woman's Kidnapping Was False Alarm

WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) -- A 33-year-old woman police initially reported as kidnapped in Watsonville Friday morning has been found, and investigators now say the incident was a false alarm.

Officers were informed that Perla "Rocio" Luna Fernandez was pulled into a truck in the area of Main Street and West Lake Avenue around 11:50 a.m., police Sgt. Juan Trujillo said.

Fernandez's friend had called police to report a silver Ford truck had parked near them and a man pulled the 33-year-old woman into the truck before he drove west on Rodriguez Street, Trujillo said.

The woman was later found in good health within the city around 4:30 p.m., according to Trujillo.

Investigators now say Fernandez wasn't abducted after all, but haven't released further details on the incident.
