Water Main Break Shuts Down Several Oakland Streets; Sinkholes Possible

OAKLAND (KCBS)— A water main break has shut down several streets in Oakland's Piedmont Avenue neighborhood, according to police.

The water line rupture was reported around 10:30 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Kingston Avenue, police said.

Both Monte Cresta Avenue in the area of Kingston Avenue and Kelton Court and Kingston Avenue near the intersections of Monte Vista and Linda avenues are closed.

Police have established a safety zone around the main break because of cracks and possible sinkholes in the roadway and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area.
