Water Main Break Leaves Huge Sinkhole On Richmond Street

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- A water main break Saturday afternoon has shut down service to about 30 homes in Richmond, an East Bay Municipal Utility District spokeswoman said.

The break on an 8-inch main was reported in the 3100 block of Fairmede Drive around 1:45 p.m. and created a sinkhole, district spokeswoman Abby Figueroa said.

Water service was shut down to the homes around 3:30 p.m. and repairs are expected to be completed later Saturday night, Figueroa said.
