Water Main Break Cuts Service To Dozens Of Homes In SF Visitacion Valley

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Roughly 25 homes were without water Friday evening as crews worked to repair a broken water main in Visitacion Valley, according to a spokesman for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

The leak was reported at Rutland Street and Harkness Avenue, although it's not yet clear when it first began.

The broken pipe is a six-inch water main that dates back to 1952, according to utility spokesman Charles Sheehan. Crews are still working to determine the cause of the break, however.

Sheehan said crews should be able to finish the repairs around 10 p.m. or sooner.\
