Watch Prince's Revolution Perform For Minneapolis Reunion

By Hayden Wright

(RADIO.COM) – Some of Prince's best-loved albums and singles were recorded under the banner "Prince and the Revolution," a band whose ranks included 16 different musicians through the years. The Revolution was a breeding ground for Prince to nurture talent and bolster his own compositions with incredible musicianship—as well as a collective of friends and sometimes, lovers.

Since Prince's death, the Revolution has shunned the stage for major tributes (despite, presumably, many opportunities to perform) but they reunited in Minneapolis last night. In the first of three scheduled shows, the band performed favorites like "Purple Rain," "Raspberry Beret" and "The Beautiful Ones." Fans on the ground at the local club called First Avenue shared footage from the reunion on social media.

The tribute will continue with shows on September 2 and 3.
