Warriors Coach Sinks Record Holder Steph Curry In 3-Point Contest
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Steph Curry has broken a lot of ground during his time in Oakland but the young guard, who holds the record for 3-point shots made in a season and was the first Golden State Warrior in decades to start the NBA All-Star Game, doesn't hold any bragging rights over Head Coach Mark Jackson.
The team released a video Monday showing Curry and head Coach Mark Jackson, himself a standout guard during his nearly two-decade run in the NBA, facing off at practice.
The two men had planned to take their shots from the three point positions used during the annual NBA 3-point competition, but Jackson was so dominant that the best-of-five test never got that far.
Curry said he was ready for a rematch, and told the Warriors media crew that the team would have a NCAA-style bracket to determine a true winner.
While the loss may cause Steph to catch some grief in the locker room, it will do little to diminish his reputation around the league. Last year he shoot an absurd 45.3 percent from 3-point range, while leading the league in attempts at 600. He set the record for 3-pointers made in a regular season at 272.
