Walter Cronkite Honored With Google Doodle On 100th Birthday

(KCBS) – Friday would have been longtime CBS Newsman Walter Cronkite's 100th birthday.

Cronkite, known as "the most trusted man in America" and "Uncle Walter" reported on World War II, the JFK assassination, Watergate, the Vietnam War and the moon landing.

Even Google is honoring the news legend with a Google Doodle.

"Walter perpetuated an objective reporting style rooted in justice and integrity," the web giant said in their post explaining the doodle.

Cronkite worked for CBS for 31 years and anchored the CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981.

He signed off from the anchor desk for the final time on March 6, 1981 as he always did, with his familiar catchphrase "And that's the way it is," followed by the date and a final good night.

Cronkite died in 2009 at the age of 92.
