Two Cyclists Injured In Danville Hit-And-Run

DANVILLE (CBS SF) -- Two cyclists were injured Saturday afternoon when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver in Diablo Road, authorities said.

Investigators said a Ford Escape SUV struck two bicyclists around 2 p.m. in the area of Diablo Road and Clydesdale Drive. The force of the impact tossed both men 20-30 feet.

Another driver witnessed the hit-and-run and chased after the hit-and-run driver but could not catch him. The California Highway Patrol posted a tweet that the suspect fled the scene driving east on Diablo Road.

Neighbors told KPIX 5 that this was the second crash involving cyclists on Diablo Road over the last few months. In that first crash two cyclists were also injured.

The injured cyclists in Saturday's crash were transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with at least one suffering traumatic injuries requiring a helicopter airlift.ors
