Firefighters Quell 2-Alarm Blaze Burning Along Hwy 37 On Mare Island

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Firefighters brought a two-alarm grass fire burning along Highway 37 in Vallejo under control Sunday afternoon, according to a Vallejo Fire Department spokesman.

The blaze was first reported around 2:10 p.m., after witnesses reported seeing flames along the highway on Mare Island, fire spokesman Aaron Klauber said.

Upon arrival, firefighters found three separate fires burning along the highway. Firefighters were eventually able to bring the fires under control, according to Klauber.

No injuries were reported and the fires did not result in road closures, Klauber said.

A cause for the fire remains under investigation.
