'Valentine's Day Bandit' Suspected In Peninsula Bank Robberies
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- The FBI and police in San Mateo County are searching for a man they dubbed the "Valentine's Day Bandit." Authorities said he is the suspect in two recent bank robberies on the Peninsula.
According to a statement from the FBI, the man is suspected of robbing a Chase Bank branch on South El Camino Real in Millbrae on January 10th.
The suspect is also wanted in connection with a robbery at a Bank of the West branch on Park Road in Burlingame on February 14th.
Authorities said the suspect was last seen wearing sunglasses and a grey or tan colored suit. In one robbery, surveillance photos showed him wearing a black beanie cap with a leopard print, while he wore a white prayer-style cap with embroidering in another. The FBI said the man pulled out a handgun during the Chase Bank robbery in Millbrae.
Witnesses said the suspect is black male, about 50-60 years in age, between 5'5" and 5'10" with a slim build. He has sunken in cheeks, possible acne scars on his face and possible skin discoloration on the back of his neck.
Authorities said the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
