UC Berkeley Student Dragged Off Sidewalk, Sexually Assaulted

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- A woman who attends the University of California at Berkeley was dragged off the sidewalk and sexually assaulted early Saturday morning, according to police.

The student was walking in the 2500 block of Etna Street near Dwight Way shortly after midnight when a man approached her from behind. He fled northbound on Etna after the assault.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a scruffy face, in his mid 20s to early 30s, wearing a dark hoodie, according to the UC Police Department.

The attack is one of several that have occurred within a few blocks of People's Park.

Police are investigating three sexual assaults that happened between February 11th and February 16th in that neighborhood, as well as another attack that occurred after a frat party on February 20.
