SoCal Uber Driver Accused Of Raping Unconscious Teen Girl

SANTA ANA (CBS / AP) -- Orange County prosecutors have charged an Uber driver with raping an unconscious 17-year-old girl after picking her up in Huntington Beach.

Investigators say 23-year-old Samer Mahran picked up the drunk teen near a bar over the weekend and failed to drive her to her Laguna Beach home.

The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday that family members used the Uber application's GPS tracking tool to locate her.

The newspaper says a relative approached Mahran's car and found him with the girl in the back seat.

Prosecutors allege Mahran raped her while she was unconscious due to intoxication.

Once the girl was rescued, prosecutors allege, Mahran jumped into the driver's seat and drove off. He was arrested at his Huntington Beach home and released after posting bond. It wasn't known if he has an attorney.
