Two Suspects Killed During Brentwood Home Invasion

BRENTWOOD (CBS SF) -- A late night home invasion robbery Wednesday ended with two alleged robbers dead as the homeowner fended off the attack, authorities said.

Brentwood police Lt. Walter O'Grodnick said the fatal shootings were in self-defense after the two suspects -- males in their 30s -- forced their way into a home in the 200 block of Birch Street.

Police responded to a call about 11:14 p.m. of shoots being fired in the neighborhood. Arriving officers discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds -- one in the street and another in a home. They were declared dead at the scene.

The homeowner was taken into custody at the scene and cooperated in the investigation.

O'Grodnick said the investigation was still ongoing and there were a lot of unanswered questions.

However, authorities said the homeowner had been targeted by the suspects.

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to call Brentwood police Detective Eric Huesman at (925) 809-7735.
