2 Dead In Brazen Daytime Shooting In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Police in West Oakland were investigating a shooting late Monday morning that has left two men dead, according to authorities.

Oakland police said that dispatch said they received multiple phone calls advising authorities of two male victims shot in the 700 block of 39th Street near West.

Officers responded to the scene and found two unresponsive adult males, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Members of the Oakland Fire Department and Paramedics Plus responded to provide medical aid to the victims.

Video shot by KPIX Chopper 5 showed over a dozen police units on the scene. The investigation appeared to be focused on a car that appeared to have been driven into the driveway of an apartment building on 39th Street.

Police said one victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but has succumbed to his injuries.

Multiple police units remained on the scene continuing their investigation into the shooting. Additional information was not immediately available.
