Twitter Announces Partnership With San Francisco Non-Profit To Teach Tech Skills To Homeless, Low-Income Families

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Twitter is joining forces with a San Francisco non-profit organization to teach tech skills to local homeless and low-income families.

The Micro-blogging site based in the city's mid-Market area will invest over $1 million over a multi-year partnership with Compass Family Services.

According to the SF Examiner, the program, called Neighborhood Nest, will be staffed by Twitter volunteers and the families assisted will be recruited on a referral basis by Compass and other non-profit organizations.

The company is currently scouting locations for learning centers close to both its mid-Market campus and Compass's clients.

Twitter has already donated 81 used computers and will provide technical support. Compass aims to help their clients achieve self-sufficiency and housing stability.
