Truck Carrying Horse Trailer Collides With Cars On I-80 In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- At least three cars, including a truck carrying a horse trailer, collided Sunday evening on Interstate Highway 80 in Fairfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.

No horses were in the trailer, said CHP Officer William Ogilvie.

Ogilvie said officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to a report of a

multi-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 80 near the off-ramp to Air Base Parkway.

Ogilvie said the truck with the horse trailer jackknifed. An ambulance has been called a precautionary measure, but Ogilvie said no injuries have been reported so far.

The collision is blocking four out of five lanes on Highway 80 and Ogilvie said a Sig-alert was issued at 6:51 p.m.

There is no estimated time for when the lanes will reopen, Ogilvie said.

Tow trucks are en route, but a special tow is needed for the horse trailer, so Ogilvie said it may take longer than usual to clear.
