Transient Lured Down From Crane By San Jose Police With Promise Of Burrito

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— The man who climbed up a nine story crane in downtown San Jose on Sunday night and stayed up there for 14 hours finally came down after a police officer promised to get him a burrito.

The San Jose Mercury News reports Alam Skandar did get his burrito, and was given time to eat it before he was arrested for trespassing and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.

Skandar tells the paper he climbed the crane in a bid for attention for things in his life that "need looking into," in his words.

He says he'd lived on the streets this winter and is currently couch surfing.
