Shelter-in-Place Order Lifted Following Power Outage in S.F.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A shelter-in-place order was issued for residents in the area around Van Ness Avenue at Green Street in San Francisco due to damaged power lines.

The order was lifted around 8:30 p.m. after fire officials declared the incident "secured."

The outage was first reported as a transformer explosion by callers and fire officials repeated that in a tweet at 6:55 p.m.

After power lines were de-energized, crews determined that a cross arm which supports the lines was damaged and some high-voltage lines had fallen to the street below. No transformers were damaged, according to PG&E.
