Lanes Remain Closed On I-680 After Deadly Crash Involving Motorcycle, Big-Rig

SAN RAMON (CBS SF) -- Lanes remain closed on southbound Interstate Highway 680 in San Ramon following a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and big-rig early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 4:40 a.m. on the highway just south of Bollinger Canyon Road, CHP officials said.

Officers arrived and found the motorcyclist unresponsive in the roadway.

The big-rig struck the center median and caught fire. CHP officials said oil spilled onto the roadway following the crash.

All southbound lanes except the far right lane have been blocked for hours and remained closed as of shortly after 8 a.m. while crews clear the vehicles from the roadway and clean up the spilled oil.

There was no estimate immediately available for when the lanes will reopen, according to the CHP.
