Pedestrian Hit By Truck In San Francisco's Excelsior Gravely Injured

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A traffic collision in the Excelsior neighborhood of San Francisco has left an elderly woman pedestrian with major injuries Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.

The collision was reported at about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Moscow Street and Persia Avenue, fire officials said.

San Francisco police confirmed that an older female pedestrian was hit by a pick-up truck and pinned underneath the vehicle.

She was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters have advised residents to avoid the area. San Francisco Municipal Railway officials said the collision could cause delays for its 52-Excelsior bus line.

Police remained at the scene investigating the incident as of 4 p.m. with the vehicle involved still stopped in the middle of the street.
